Director of Diversity Recruiting

We are seeking a diverse slate of candidates, representative of the progress we’re aspiring to make. While our preference is that this role be based near one of our major US office locations, we are open to exploring alternatives. 

Position Overview: 

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Director of Diversity Recruiting will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive recruitment strategy that focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I).  The ideal candidate for this position is a senior-level recruiting professional who prides themselves in their ability to source and hire diverse candidates for positions at all levels. This person is a subject matter expert and has a demonstrated track record of recruiting diverse talent and establishing relationships with key diversity focused organizations and academic institutes. While the primary focus of this role will be recruiting diverse talent, the successful candidate will contribute to Rocky Mountain Institute’s DE&I initiatives more broadly.  


  • Lead the global recruiting function, setting comprehensive recruitment strategies including advertising plans, outreach, trainings and tracking in collaboration with the Recruitment Team 

  • Design, develop and implement innovative outreach programs using diversity and inclusion best practices in support of strategic initiatives 

  • Develop employment brand and social media strategies to position Rocky Mountain Institute as an employer of choice 

  • Establish strategic partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), as well as other diversity focused networks and associations 

  • In partnership with the Talent Acquisition Manager, collaborate with hiring teams to understand their talent needs, identify opportunities to add diverse candidates to the pipeline, and set diversity hiring goals 

  • Enhance recruitment reporting and analytic capabilities that will provide transparency on the organization’s progress towards our aspirational diversity and inclusion hiring and retention goals 

  • Play an integral role in helping to inform Rocky Mountain Institute’s broader internal DE&I initiatives such as establishing Employee Resource Groups (ERGs),  

  • Partner with members of the People Team to ensure the candidate experience transfers into a great employee experience   


  • 8+ years of experience in diversity recruiting, developing and partnering with professional diversity organizations nationally 

  • Experience building, scaling and leading diversity recruiting programs 

  • Experience in managing the work of others and setting clear expectations and measuring outcomes 

  • Experience partnering with senior leadership to inform and guide the direction of inclusive recruitment, both near and long-term perspectives 

  • Recruiting delivery experience within a matrixed organization 

  • Experience quickly assessing gaps, opportunities and developing actionable and measurable plans to execute against 

  • Experience building trusted relationships with senior leaders 

  • Comfortable managing through ambiguity to define clear road maps, recommendations, plans and processes 

  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, with the ability to build relationships, manage stakeholder expectations and influence employees across all levels of the company 


This position is open to all RMI office locations


The starting salary range for this position is $125,000 and has an additional 20% bonus target. There is an opportunity to earn more based on experience which will be discussed throughout the interview process.
