The Role

Rocky Mountain Institute is seeking a building maintenance technician for the RMI Innovation Center in Basalt, CO. This person will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment, machinery, and property structures, in addition to performing regularly scheduled building checks and maintaining proper records needed for certain items that require inspections by third parties. This will also include scheduling and meeting with outside vendors as needed and setting up and cleaning up conference rooms for frequent events and group meetings. 

Responsibilities

  • Survey and maintain building to ensure it is working efficiently and is consistent with health and safety standards
  • Maintain and repair all building systems, including ventilation and plumbing, to ensure functionality
  • Inspect alarm systems (fire, security, elevator) and schedule repairs when needed
  • Assist and facilitate event set-up and clean-up as needed
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. cleaning of concrete floors, carpet, inspections and record keeping of elevator pit and sump pump) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)
  • Perform other building maintenance and repair duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience as a building maintenance technician/engineer or similar experience as a property manager
  • Good physical condition and strength with an ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and other systems
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills

Additional Qualifications

  • Willingness to be flexible in making work schedule based on needs of the building and any groups using the building, including non-business hours and weekends as needed
  • Excellent project management
