Job Description  

Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) is seeking a Knowledge Services Provider with exceptional organizational, analytical and communication skills to facilitate successful execution of RMI’s Knowledge Management assets and efforts. The Knowledge Manager leads efforts to ensure the Programs have the analytical tools and training to complete their project work and deliver beneficial Microsoft SharePoint support. He/She will also be responsible for managing the document management effort to support the Programs and Operations in logical storage and retrieval of working documents and published work. This effort will require frequent coordination and interface with the Institute’s SharePoint environment. 

 

Primary  responsibilities: 

Knowledge Services Provider should exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administration, and organizational skills. The Knowledge Services Provider should have the ability to work independently on projects, periodically work under pressure, and collaborate effectively with diverse Program and Operations staff. A summary of responsibilities includes:

  • Manage data research, analytical and subscription services including ensuring staff is trained on the tools, subscriptions are kept up-to-date and tools are serving the intended purpose for the Programs 
  • Act as consultant to Program and Operations staff to ensure understanding of knowledge assets and the management of these assets 
  • Maintain and grow the usefulness of the Institute’s Knowledge Center using Microsoft SharePoint to ensure easy to access and use for the Program and Operation staff 
  • Facilitate Document Management system, process and policy to ensure logical and accurate document creation, versioning, saving, archiving and retrieval for Program and Operations staff using Microsoft SharePoint 
  • Create Project level SharePoint and Team sites for the Project Managers and ensure project teams understand how to use the site(s) 
  • Develop and implement effective and efficient Records Retention policy and process 
  • Develop, grow and maintain Institute intranet to ensure timely and effective internal communications to staff using Microsoft SharePoint 
  • Own and manage the SharePoint feature, function and structure roadmap specific to RMI’s needs 
  • Serve as central point of contact for Microsoft SharePoint to ensure proper use and efficient design, development and administration. This could include working with skilled contractors to continue to grow and build-out the tool 
  • Continue to develop Institute Library to serve the need of the Program and Operations staff 
  •  Manage the RMI electronic and hard copy historical documents (35 years of history!) 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in document management and system administration
  • Bachelors degree in related field

  • Microsoft SharePoint 2016 knowledge including general administration/permissions, effective design site, development and implementation of key features 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal, with senior staff in various organizations and governments 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 2016 applications and tools 
  • Proven project coordination skills 
  • Proven organizational skills Demonstrable operational problem solving skills 
  • Ability to effectively multitask 
  • Good judgment and strong decision-making ability 
  • Attention to detail and exceptional accuracy 
  • Sophisticated ability to recognize and handle sensitive and confidential information
